Durham’s newest film festival returns for a second helping of adventurous and striking short films from around the world, including fiction, documentaries, experimental, and wholly unclassifiable works. Come marvel at the everyday beauty and strangeness that surrounds us.

We’ve got another heapin’ helping of strange & beautiful films from around the world and around the Triangle, plus lots of music and audio additions this time ’round.

A festival pass (4 screening blocks) is $40,and tickets to individual blocks are $12. They are on sale NOW at Manbites Dog Theater’s web site. Seating is very limited, and the festival sold out quickly last year:

A full schedule will be available soon on our website (http://www.strangebeauty.org), but here are some highlights:

–Thu Feb 17: Durham Cinematheque presents “Interviewed,” a film & sound program by Tom Whiteside and Khristian Weeks

–Opening night party at Fullsteam Brewery after the show

–Fri Feb 18: World premiere of a new documentary, Sound Between Lines: Triangle Soundpainting Orchestra, by former Durham resident Jason Middleton, plus live performance by the Triangle Soundpainting Orchestra and Jim Kellough’s multimedia concoction, WINKY.

–Sat Feb 19 (afternoon block): Seattle filmmaker Malic Amalya’s Drifting, with live musical accompaniment by Chapel Hill’s Felix Obelix.

–Sat Feb 19 (evening block): The Strange Beauty Aural Fixation, a listening session of audio art & audio documentary produced by Jennifer Deer of Big Shed Audio+Media.

–After-Party show at Motorco Music Hall on Sat, Feb 19 featuring Justin Robinson & the Mary Annettes (featuring Justin Robinson of the Carolina Chocolate Drops), Felix Obelix, and Wes Phillips (music), and Alexis Mastromichalis (dance installation).
